The sale launched on Tuesday online with thousands of parents logging on to Big W’s portal to snap up early presents for their kids.
But not everyone is impressed with the tweaks made on the terms and condition’s of this year’s sale – with the ‘sneaky fees’ on online buys a turn-off for many.
The most popular toys of 2022 have been revealed – and it’s sure to be a very nostalgic year for parents born in the 90s
The toy sales kick off on Thursday and are expected to be very popular
People can now put things on lay-by using the online portal, but for each order they will need to fork-up a $15 service fee.

There have also been some ‘technical issues’ since the popular sale went live.
‘Laptop and App tried not able to select anything to add to the cart at all. Been online since before 7am refreshing the page,’ one stressed grandma wrote.
‘Not to mention half the toys I went to layby were available in store only! Why give the option to do online presale if we can’t get half the stuff on there?,’ said another woman.
The physical sales are expected to be just as popular as usual despite the online sale giving tech-savvy shoppers a two-day headstart – with the retailer anticipating excited parents loading up trolleys as they get organised for the silly season.
‘Every year, millions of families turn to our Toy Mania event for inspiration and we’re excited for another bumper event. This year with over 1,300 products on offer and more than 150 being exclusive to BIG W, it’s an event parents and kids of all ages don’t want to miss,’ Big W’s Chief Toy Buyer, Christine Faulkner said.
LEGO is expected to be popular again this year – with big kids and small alike
Ms Faulkner’s job is to understand children and what they want out of their next ‘favourite’ toy.
She then searches the wider marketplace to make sure Big W has the best offering possible.
‘Our team of toy buyers have one of the best jobs as they uncover the latest toy trends and delve into shopping data and behavior to ensure that the brands and products available at BIG W are the most current and exciting.’
